Just under 60 km north of Loreto, you’ll find the entrance to Canipolé, an ancient site where our ancestors once lived. This archaeological treasure is home to well-preserved cave paintings that date back centuries, showcasing the remarkable use of natural pigments by indigenous people. Despite the passage of time, these rock art paintings remain intact, offering a glimpse into the past.
During the tour, you'll also encounter petroglyphs, intricate carvings etched into the stone. The hike to the site takes approximately 40 minutes each way, and while it’s a relatively easy walk, it can be tiring for some. Nevertheless, the journey is definitely worth it, as the experience provides a deeper connection to the region’s rich cultural history.
